Thursday 21 January we were treated to a report from the P.A.G.B in the from of a DVD.
A total of 1470 image were seen from 98 clubs. Two image were from our members Brian Shackleton and Micheal Myers. Both were worthy enteries .
Most image were of the creative and artistic mode.
Overall it was very interesting and in enlighting .
Bruce Pickering, a BPS old boy, with the assistance of his wife, who managed the projected images, provided us with a most interesting and entertaining evening. Bruce, who specialises in wildlife photography, spent the first part of his presentation demonstrating the various pieces of kit and comfort gear that he uses during the sometimes long wait that is required to catch the desired image. He imparted many useful tips for the would be wildlife photographer, such as using extension tubes on long lenses so as to increase the image size by bringing the focus point closer than the lens would otherwise allow.
This was promised by all who had listened to Oliver Wright to be a good evening. They were slightly misleading - it was an excellent evening.
Oliver presented his talk with a mix of humour, factual and technical information. His images were from his latest year of photography - hence the title "My Year". Most of the images were taken in the north of Sweden and showed the beauty of the country in the dark wintry nights.
