Our Second competition evening by Zoom took place on 26 November. Consistent with our policy of using judges from far-flung exotic places Mike Barnard LRPS ABPPA BPE2 from Bridlington presided.

Warning that he would be judging the quality of the images, not their titles, Mike nonetheless provided plenty of constructive feedback. A neat idea for using gradients on corners to tone down backgrounds was new to me.

The first trophy up was the D Bates Trophy for Best All-Rounder which attracted a respectable nine entries. Requiring a set of four images from defined different genres, the first prize was won by Don Crabtree with:-

Jamaican Barry (20) as his Portrait

Sweet Pea After Rain as his unusual choice of Pictorial image

Super Save Mill Lane Goalie as his Sport image

and Top of City Hall as his Record offering

Graeme Mitchell was second, only one mark behind. Doug Jarvis came third in a close finish.

After "tea" came the Mobile Phone Competition. This was rather shorter with a total of 17 images submitted.

Window Above won first place for Doug Jarvis

Blea Tarn gave Graeme Mitchell second place and

Nature's Jewels was third - also Graeme's.

It was a good evening's competition with much useful comment. Congratulations to the winners and our thanks to Mike for his wit and wisdom!
