Hot on the heels of the Second DPI Trophy Evening, came the Second Print Trophy Evening on 19 January. This unintended concentration of competitions did not deter members who submitted 22 prints for the Hammond Trophy (Portraits etc), 36 for the Leighton Trophy (Pictorial) and 24 prints for the Storey Trophy ( Monochrome All Rounder).
This gave our judge Elaine Ligo LRPS a considerable challenge which she rose to admirably giving many useful and constructive comments as well as scores.
The JH Leighton pictorial trophy was won by Graeme Mitchell with 'Gatehouse, Markenfield Hall' (see header picture) with Rais Hasan's 'Tree on the Move' second and Andrew Holland's 'Malham Tree' Third.
Andrew Holland took the WH Hammond Trophy for portrait, people or figure study with 'Windswept in the Forest' (above), also taking second place with 'Nau Dad Gerroff' while Rais Hasan's 'Shavna Modelling Hair' was third.
With six sets entered, the HM Storey had a good number of candidates for best Monochrome All-Rounder. It was won by our President, Rais Hasan with his prints 'Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Crags', 'The Bearded Man', 'Dining in the Arch' and 'Bandaged Figure' (all below). Graeme Mitchell took second place and Don Crabtree was third.
With an incredible 83 prints to judge Elaine, our judge, did sterling work that evening. Many thanks to her!
